3 Things To Keep You Occupied While In Treatment

Depending on your diagnosis, your treatments can take several hours. You will spend time waiting in the room, or sitting in the chemo unit. Make good use of the time while you are there, it will make the time go by faster.

1. Bring Your Electronic Devices and Headphones

Since you can be there for several hours, you have time to watch a good comedic movie, listen to your favorite music, or download a good audible book to listen to. Bring anything that will keep your stress level down.

2. Bring A Good Book

Submerse yourself in a good page turning book. Getting lost in between the pages of a excellent story, can help you forget where you are. Choose a book that interest you, and that will keep you in good spirits. If you don't have money to buy books; try your local library, or if you have a kindle or Nook, there are free books that you may be able to download. Also, if those options are not available to you, sometimes your hospital may have a library, or ask your nurse if they can bring you some reading material.

3. Knitting and Puzzles

If you are into knitting, the waiting room gives you plenty of time to whip up something nice. Knitting can be relaxing and help you to focus on making something beautiful. Studies have shown that knitting has health benefits. Knitting has been know to enable people to redirect their focus and reduce the awareness of pain. Knitting and crocheting have also shown to be beneficial in diminishing the chance of mild memory lost. If knitting is not your thing, maybe you can spend your time solving cross-word or Sudoku puzzles in the newspaper or get a book of puzzles from the dollar store, local newstand, or hospital gift shop.
